Based in San Diego, California, JinxKing is a trio performing a mix of styles that together can be classified as American Roots Rock. JinxKing is greasy, gritty and real, with a large sound in a tight little band. If you like your Rockabilly and Blues mixed with traditional Country and more you are in the right place. 
As Mike Kinsman, President of the San Diego Blues Lovers United and contributor to Frogger Dogger says-“You never know where the band is going – whether it is going to be the blues of Johnny Taylor or Albert King, the rock of George Thorogood or Los Lobos, or a classic from the Country of Johnny Cash -- but it will be the right song, because the members of JinxKing feel it in their bones and that's where all good music starts.”

The members of JinxKing work together to bring an entertaining mix of styles together in a package that can perform in the smallest to the largest venues, from swing to rock, and from dinner crowds to hip-to-hip rock clubs.

 
Vocalist and Bassist “Scary” Larry Teves leads the charge with an attitude that says “you will have fun, dammit”! He walks his bass with a steady rolling in the pocket feel that anchors the groove. Larry has performed with the Boogie Men, the Mississippi Mudsharks, Tomcat Courtney and Chet Cannon.

 

 

Johnny “Guitar” Flynn defines the bands sound. With his traditional and versatile style, John plays with a clean but greasy grit. When you hear that guitar tone, you know you are on the West Coast, thank you, and you’re surprised at how good that boy can play. “Lucky” John Flynn is layering the sound with his rhythm playing, and cutting through with his jumping leads. John has performed with Kenny Shopmeyer and Delta Heat, Chet Cannon and The West Coast Boogiemen. 

Gregg Gerson drives the rhythm of the band on drums. Gregg is an internationally acclaimed recording artist, having worked with some of the largest stars in contemporary music including Billy Idol, David Bowie, Jason Mraz, etc. Perhaps the most in demand recording and performing drummer around, when in San Diego Gregg gets his roots rock on with JinxKing! 

 

The origin of the band name is based on the phrase said after two kids speak the same thing at the same time. The first who says “jinx!” wins-but if they say “jinx!” together, the jinx is broken by the next to say “Jinx King!” The term jinx is derived in blues vernacular from the term jinks, and has been used in lyrics in blues songs from the 1920’s and earlier. Jinx can mean bad luck, or an object, person or animal can be a Jinx-like a black cat-or it can mean tempting fate. When it comes to luck, the members of JinxKing have had both kinds throughout their careers. But now that the band has come together, the future looks bright.
The members of JinxKing have played thousands of concerts, events and venues in their careers. JinxKing is currently performing all over San Diego County and beyond. The band is able to perform from 1-5 hours of original and covers, can entertain all ages or audiences with high energy and top professionalism, and can provide all equipment and promotion needs for any event.
